First of all, apologies for the title – I just could not resist the urge to use it instead of trying to think of a better one!
Anyway, it has been announced today that Lady Gaga wants to apologise to all of her fans for pulling out of various engagements recently as a result of ill health, namely exhaustion and dehydration. A concert at Purdue University in Indiana is the latest casualty of Gaga’s poor health but there have been instances of other cancelled performances in the past few months.
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, is just 23 years old and yet it really is no wonder that she is suffering from exhaustion given her monumental rise to the top of the charts in the past year. She had the best selling single of 2009 with Poker Face and has literally seemed to be absolutely everywhere when promoting her music. It seems that she is being forced to take a break because her body has had quite enough for the moment.
Lady Gaga was certainly one of the success stories in the music industry during 2009. The fantastic singer songwriter not only released some amazing tunes but made a major impact on the performance aspect as well with her crazy clothes and ever-changing image. Her individuality and couldn’t care less attitude has certainly captured the imagination of many members of her audience. Obviously sick of the same carbon copy pop stars that appear in the industry every single year, Lady Gaga has been welcomed as a refreshing change and proves it is possible to make it on your own terms.
For all of these reasons (and because I really like her), I wish her a speedy recovery and hope she is back gracing stages near us soon!
